Sara Swenson, BASF - Hillsboro, ND
Sara Swenson works for BASF as an Agronomic Solutions Advisor, covering NW Minnesota. As an ASA, Sara supports retailers and growers that sell and grow BASF’s seed and crop protection products. Sara graduated from North Dakota State University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s in Crop and Weed Science.

Ryan Fisher, DEKALB - Thompson, ND
Ryan is a customer business advisor for Bayer Crop Science in northwestern Minnesota and northeastern North Dakota and is responsible for field support and agronomy of DEKALB/Asgrow Seed and the Bayer Crop Protection lineup. He has been with Bayer for 10 years. Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree in crop production from the University of Minnesota-Crookston.

Kristie Sundeen, Pioneer - Brocket, ND
Kristie is a Pioneer Field Agronomist for NE ND/NW MN. Previously, she was a Seed Advisor with BASF and a Field Sales Rep/US InVigor Sales Lead with Bayer. She also had her own crop consulting business (‘07–‘15). She grew up on a family small grain farm near Langdon. She earned a B.S. in Agricultural Business and an Associate’s Degree in Agronomy from UM-Crookston.

Mick Miller, CROPLAN - Fairfield, MT
Mick is a Forage and Oilseed Specialist with WinField United and the CROPLAN Brand. Mick grew up on a family farm in North Central Montana where his family raised malt barley, wheat, canola, and hay. His passion of working and visiting with people has allowed him to be able to work “hands on” with farmers over the past 12 years.

Andy Smith, CHS Inc. - Inver Grove Heights, MN
Andy graduated from the University of St. Thomas and has worked at CHS for 14 years. His career has covered various roles within the Ag Business department including trading, risk management, and accounting. Andy has worked within the oilseed product team for 4 years, and earlier this year assumed the role of Commercial Manager for the canola product line at CHS.

Dave Grafstrom, University of Minnesota - Roseau, MN
Dave is the Minnesota Canola Production Centre site agronomist. He has a B.S. in Agronomy from UM and Ph.D. from NDSU. He worked for BASF for 14 years in research, technical service, and market development. He also worked for Northland College as a Farm Business Management Instructor.

Megan McCaghey, University of Minnesota - St. Paul, MN
Megan McCaghey is an assistant professor of Plant Pathology at UMN, Twin Cities. Before coming to UMN, Megan earned a PhD in Plant Pathology at UW-Madison focused on genetic tools for white mold resistance in soybean and completed a postdoc at UC Davis focusing on grower-driven research in soilborne fungal plant pathogens. Her research is centered on soilborne fungi that cause crop diseases. More specifically, she is interested in questions related to understanding the ecology and epidemiology of soil-associated fungi and oomycetes and enhancing crop disease resistance to improve management.

Randy Martinson, Martinson Ag Risk Management - Fargo, ND
Randy grew up on a family grain and livestock farm in rural Milnor, ND, where he farmed for ten years following his graduation from North Dakota State School of Science. He also attended North Dakota State University (NDSU) for Agriculture Economics. While attending NDSU, Randy took an internship with a local commodity brokerage firm that turned out to be a 20-plus year experience. Randy is also a licensed crop insurance agent. In January 2016, Randy became one of the founders of Martinson Ag Risk Management. In his time with the firm, Randy became well known for his introductory marketing education series for marketing clubs, where he introduces complex marketing strategies in a simple, straightforward manner.

Bryon Parman, North Dakota State University - Fargo, ND
Bryon Parman is an assistant professor and agricultural finance specialist at North Dakota State University Extension. Parman, who grew up on a large corn and cattle farm in southwest Nebraska, earned a master of science degree in economics with a specialization in agricultural real estate and finance from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and a doctorate in agricultural economics from Kansas State University.

Howard Olson, AgCountry Farm Credit Services - Fargo, ND
Howard is Sr. VP of Governmental & Public Affairs and is responsible for developing/implementing AgCountry’s local, state, and federal legislative strategy and implementation, management, and coordination of government relations, advocacy activities, and partnership development. He has a B.S. from NDSU and an M.S. from the University of Mary, Fargo.

Joe Ikley, North Dakota State University - Fargo, MB
Joe has been an Assistant Professor and Extension Weed Specialist for North Dakota State University since 2019. He has state-wide Extension responsibility for all crops except potato and sugarbeet. Management of herbicide resistant and other problematic weeds are a primary focus of his Extension programming. His research program focuses on managing difficult to control and herbicide resistant weeds in corn, soybean, and dry edible beans.

Janet Knodel, North Dakota State University - Fargo, ND
Dr. Janet J. Knodel is a Professor and Extension Entomologist at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. For the past 20 years, she has provided statewide program leadership for Extension Entomology, the North Dakota Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program, and coordinates/co-edits the NDSU Crop & Pest Report. Her extension outreach and applied research focuses on insect pests of field crops and IPM strategies including wheat, barley, canola, soybean, pulse crops, and sunflower.
