9:30 a.m. Why Grow Canola on Your Farm?
Nolan Friesen, Bunge Canada - Altona, MB
Nolan works as the Grain Manager for Bunge at the Altona, MB, location. He’s been with Bunge in this position for over three years. However, he has worked in the Ag industry for a total of 15 years. Most of that time has been spent around grain, but also in the area of crop inputs and farm equipment sales. He enjoys meeting farmers and helping them with their marketing decisions.

Courtney Meduna, Bayer Crop Science - Minot, ND
Courtney is a technical agronomist for DEKALB/Bayer based in Minot, ND. She has a B.S. in Ag Economics and Animal Science from North Dakota State University.
10:10 a.m. What's Happening in the Canola Market
Jennifer Webster, CHS, Inc. - Inver Grove Heights, MN
Jennifer joined the CHS Hallock team in August 2017 working with Zack Schaefer to procure canola across MN and ND. She also works to expand CHS presence in Southern Canada, buying soybeans and selling meal out of the Mankato, MN, soybean crushing facility. She grew up on a Wisconsin farm growing corn, soybeans, and livestock. She moved to Langdon, ND, in 2014 where she trained for CHS upon graduating with an agribusiness degree.

Derek Lewis, BASF - Winnipeg, MB
Derek is a Product Excellence Agronomist with BASF based in Winnipeg, MB. His research focuses on agronomic factors affecting InVigor canola performance including seeding rates, establishment, fertility and harvest management among other topics. He has a B.S. in Plant Science and an M.S. in Weed Science from the University of Manitoba.

Dave Grafstrom, Northland Technical & Community College - Roseau, MN
Dave is the Minnesota Canola Production Centre site agronomist. He has a B.S. in Agronomy from UM and Ph.D. from NDSU. He worked for BASF for 14 years in research, technical service, and market development. He has worked for Northland College as a Farm Business Management Instructor.
1:15 p.m. Rising from Leaf Litter: The Unusual Happenings of Flea Beetles in 2018
Lesley Lubenow, NDSU-Langdon Research Extension Center - Langdon, ND
Lesley works for NDSU Extension as a Cropping Systems Specialist at the Langdon Research Extension Center in northeast ND. She has held this position since 2012 and has been with NDSU Extension since 2005 in various county extension agent roles. She has an M.S. in Plant Sciences from NDSU and a B.A. in Biology from Concordia College-Moorhead. She is currently working on her Ph.D. from NDSU in entomology, focusing on flea beetles.

Dane Froese, Manitoba Agriculture - Carman, MB
Dane was raised on a grain farm near Winkler, MB, and continues to be involved in its operation. He has a B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba. He worked in ag retail until 2017. In his role with Manitoba Agriculture, he is the extension and industry development specialist for oilseed crops. His current projects involve examining best practices in planted, rowed canola and conducting extension and training workshops on clubroot detection and management.
